Brindle - Kbr

While brindle is written as “Kbr” genetic tests will always show brindle dogs as KB/ky — this is because brindle is a duplication of dominant black and wild type. If it duplicates twice, then the dog will be homozygous for brindle. Unfortunately if a dog is dominant black, carrying brindle, a genetic test will still show KB/ky, and you can only know for sure if they carry brindle based on their pedigree, and what puppies they produce.

Wild Type - ky

Wild type essentially means not dominant black and not brindle. There isn’t a specific phenotype for ky/ky dogs— this depends on what their genotype on the other color loci is.
